block Include the CriterionSM Service in Your Course Requirements – Without Impacting Your Budget

Writing faculty has long known that students improve skills and gain confidence by writing frequently and receiving immediate targeted feedback. Now, with the CriterionSM bookstore edition, colleges and universities have a convenient and more cost-effective way to make sure students get the vital practice and guidance they need ... without impacting their budgets.

Criterion Online Writing Evaluation is a Web-based application that provides faculty, writing instructors and administrators at two- and four-year institutions with reliable evaluations of their students' writing abilities. Students draft and submit essays and receive immediate feedback in the form of a holistic score and diagnostic annotations within each essay.

And the new bookstore edition lets them enjoy all the benefits of Criterion at no additional cost to the school. Here's how it works:

Once a school chooses to include Criterion as part of its writing course requirements, students simply purchase an access card through the campus bookstore when they buy textbooks and other course materials. They use their unique ID and a password provided by the course instructor to register online. With secure access to Criterion 24 hours a day, seven days a week, students can practice their writing skills online — wherever and whenever they choose for the full semester.

An ideal complement to any writing curriculum, Criterion makes practice easy and convenient. To find out more, visit www.ets.org/criterion/highered, or contact an ETS Criterion specialist at 1-800-745-0269 (press 4) or highered@ets.org.
