New Partnership Puts Course Evaluation Surveys on the Web
ETS has joined forces with eCollege®, a leading provider of value-added information services to the post-secondary education industry, to deliver both the SIR II™ and e-SIR II surveys (for distance learning programs) via the Internet.
Soliciting students' evaluations of their classroom experiences is a practical, recognized method of measuring the effectiveness of instruction. With a strong research background and impeccable reputation for fairness and validity, ETS's student-rating instrument, the Student Instructional Report II (SIR II) helps colleges and universities assess the quality of their teaching, reward excellence and strengthen academic programs.
And now these same benefits are available with the speed and convenience of online delivery.
The partnership combines ETS's acclaimed course evaluations with eCollege's leading course evaluation technology and infrastructure. Both surveys will be delivered through the eCollege platform for a seamless experience, offering ETS customers a fully hosted, scalable and reliable online option.
Web-based delivery can help institutions reduce faculty administration time and expense, and it can increase the rate of student participation by requiring students to complete the survey before receiving their final grades. Administrators electronically invite students based on the appropriate course roster, and the survey may then be delivered to them via an e-mail or customized portal page.
Survey reports, with downloadable data for additional analysis, are available online immediately following the close of each course survey — presented in an easy-to-use format. Users can even access national comparative data and SIR II research reports online.
