ETS Announces 2006-2007 Test Schedules
ETS has announced test schedules for 2006-07 administrations of The Praxis Series™ tests, the School Leadership Series, and the ParaPro Assessment. (Tables containing the dates for each assessment's test administrations follow the story.) Test fees will remain unchanged for the 2006-07 testing year.
ETS has also announced that 2006-07 Information Bulletins for Praxis and the School Leadership Series will be available only in PDF format. Test takers may download bulletins from www.ets.org/praxis and www.ets.org/sls. The decision to eliminate mass distribution of paper bulletins was made in response to customer feedback, indicating test takers prefer accessing information online.
"An overwhelming number of test takers obtain information and register online," said Donna Ott, Praxis™ Program Director. "Because paper bulletins are only updated once a year, referring customers to our Web sites rather than mailing out bulletins will help ensure that users have the most up-to-date information about our testing programs," she added.
Candidates who do not have access to the Web may contact ETS to have the bulletin printed and mailed to them. The Praxis and SLS programs have created a four-page printed flyer that will serve as a reference for test takers, and will contain information on a range of subjects from registration to score reporting. The flyers can be downloaded from the Praxis and SLS Web sites and may be photocopied.
ParaPro Information Bulletins are also available as downloadable PDFs from www.ets.org/parapro. Candidates who do not have access to the Web may contact ETS for printed copies of the ParaPro Bulletin.
PPST® Paper Administrations Reduced
ETS will reduce the number of paper administrations of the Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Assessment (PPST) from seven per year to four per year beginning with the 2006-07 testing year.
Paper administrations are scheduled for:
- November 18, 2006
- January 13, 2007
- April 28, 2007
- August 4, 2007
The January and April 2007 administrations will include the Primary Language Not English (PLNE) test administration dates.
CBT Advantages
"There are a number of advantages to computer-based testing," said Donna Ott, Praxis Program Director. "Students get their preliminary reading and mathematics scores immediately and can arrange to retake the test more quickly if they need to. And, importantly for students, it is more cost-effective."
The reduction in paper administrations increases the capacity for Praxis II® tests by opening up more seats in testing centers.
