The Teacher Leadership Exploratory Consortium recently released to the public a draft of Model Teacher Leader Standards after nearly two years of research and collaboration. This group of education stakeholders is now inviting the broader community to offer feedback on these standards by visiting http://tlstandards.weebly.com/. ETS served as convener for this group, which first explored teacher leadership and then drafted model standards.
The model standards were designed to stimulate dialogue among stakeholders of the teaching profession about what constitutes the knowledge, skills and competencies that teachers need to assume teacher leadership roles in their schools, districts and the profession.
In gathering feedback, the Teacher Leadership Exploratory Consortium aims to help inform curriculum, professional development and the development of other standards and assessments. Model standards inform preparation curriculum, professional learning, assessing performance of teacher leadership programs, inform conversations and potentially, policy decisions.
The Teacher Leadership Exploratory Consortium seeks comments until April 30, 2010. Please visit http://tlstandards.weebly.com to view the draft standards, the survey to offer public comment, and an explanatory cover letter including the list of consortium members.
