Vice President and Corporate Secretary
As Vice President and Corporate Secretary, David Hobson manages ETS's corporate governance and coordinates the governance activities of the company's subsidiaries to ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements. He also provides leadership to a unit of corporatewide shared services.
Previously, Hobson provided leadership to ETS's Center for Advocacy and Philanthropy (CAAP), which supports activities that improve educational outcomes for individuals or institutions and supports the communities in which ETS facilities are located. Under his leadership, CAAP built stronger relationships with community organizations and improved employee engagement in the annual ETS Cares Campaign — which has donated millions of dollars to nonprofit organizations over the years.
Hobson started his career in the Testing Services division. From there, he earned positions in the Corporate and Finance divisions as well as several strategic business units. Among these were the Officers' division; the Center for the Assessment of Educational Progress, Teaching and Learning division; School and College Services; and the Global division.
During his tenure, Hobson has played key roles in many significant projects and programs, including the National Assessment of Educational Progress, the Qatar Comprehensive Educational Assessment, the California High School Exit Exam and the California Standardized Testing and Reporting program. He also was a consultant to the National Center for Education Statistics on the Third International Math and Science Study, which supported the work of the International Association for Educational Assessment, the Netherlands.
Hobson earned his MBA and bachelor's degree in economics from Rider University.
ETS has assisted the NAEP program in introducing numerous psychometric and assessment design innovations over the years.
