Sara R. Lester
Vice President, Human Resources & Learning
As Vice President, Human Resources & Learning, Sara R. Lester is responsible for all human resource processes, including but not limited to employee relations, learning, development, talent management, organizational design, succession planning, recruiting, compensation, benefits, rewards, performance management and HR information systems.
Lester started as an attorney at ETS, first as an Assistant General Counsel, and then as Associate General Counsel. During her eight years in the ETS General Counsel's Office, Lester advised management on all aspects of human resources and learning, supervised the corporate compliance program, and managed litigation and other dispute resolution.
Prior to joining ETS, Lester served as a litigation associate in New York at the international law firm of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, and as a federal law clerk for the Hon. Richard M. Berman of the Southern District of New York. Most recently before joining ETS, she was an attorney at D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P., a global investment and technology firm and hedge fund in New York, where she advised management on human resources, employment and litigation matters.
Lester earned her Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Literature from Yale and her Juris Doctor cum laude from the Duke University School of Law. She was a member of the Duke Law Journal and Moot Court Board, and received the James S. Bidlake Memorial Award for excellence in legal research and writing. Lester is admitted to the bar in both New Jersey and New York.
ETS has assisted the NAEP program in introducing numerous psychometric and assessment design innovations over the years.
