New Praxis™ Multiple Subjects Tests

The Praxis™ program has introduced two new multiple-subject tests including the Middle School: Multiple Subjects Test (5141) and the Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects Test (5031).

The new multiple subjects tests assess subject-matter knowledge required for Middle School or Elementary Education generalist licenses in four core academic areas:

  • English Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Social Studies
  • Science

The multiple subjects tests provide a reliable scaled score for each of the four core subjects, giving states and teacher preparation programs a way to assess that teacher candidates have the span of knowledge they need to begin independent practice. The subtest design also provides candidates the option of retaking only those parts of the tests that they did not pass.

Upcoming computer testing dates for the multiple subjects tests are in April and July of 2012. Visit your Praxis state requirements page for more state specific information.
