What to Expect

The EXADEP test is a paper-delivered test with a total testing time of approximately 4 hours and 5 minutes. The test contains five sections. You will receive a test book and separate answer sheet where you will enter all responses for the Verbal Aptitude, Mathematics, Analytical Reasoning, Written Expression and English sections.

Each section of the EXADEP test is made up of multiple-choice questions. You are free to skip questions that you might have difficulty answering and come back to them later during the time provided to work on that section. Also during that time, you may change the answer to any question in that section by erasing it completely and filling in an alternative answer.

Your scores for each section will be determined by the number of questions you answer correctly. Nothing is subtracted from a score if you answer a question incorrectly. Therefore, to maximize your scores, it is best to answer every question.

Reporting Suspicious Behavior

ETS takes test security very seriously. Although tests are administered under strict supervision and security measures, testing irregularities may sometimes occur. Please contact ETS as soon as possible to report any observed irregular behavior — for example, someone copying from another test taker, taking a test for someone else, having access to test questions before the exam, or using notes or unauthorized aids. All information will be held in the strictest confidence. Reports of cheating or fraud will be investigated thoroughly and offenders may be prosecuted to the full extent of the applicable laws.
