Score Interpretation
ETS provides information on the scoring process and interpretative data for the GRE® tests to assist graduate and business schools in using scores for admissions purposes.
GRE® revised General Test Interpretive Information
(for tests taken on or after August 1, 2011)
- Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning Interpretive Data Used on Score Reports — Includes Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning scores on the 130–170 score scales, in one-point increments, and the corresponding percentile ranks.
- Analytical Writing Interpretive Data Used on Score Reports — Includes Analytical Writing scores on the 0–6 score scale, in half-point increments, and the corresponding percentile ranks.
- Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning Concordance Information — Contains two concordance tables: one for the Verbal Reasoning measure and one for the Quantitative Reasoning measure. The table for each measure provides scores on the prior 200–800 score scale, the corresponding estimated scores on the new 130–170 score scale and corresponding percentile ranks. Assists score users in comparing applicants who took the GRE® General Test prior to August 1, 2011, to applicants who took the GRE® revised General Test on or after August 1, 2011. - GRE Guide to the Use of Scores — Provides GRE score interpretation data and statistical information, including percentiles, concordance information, reliability coefficients and standard errors of measurement.
- GRE Comparison Tool for Business Schools — Allows users to calculate an estimated GMAT® Total score by entering an applicant's GRE Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning scores on either the new 130–170 score scales or the prior 200–800 score scales.
- NEW! A Snapshot of the Individuals Who Took the GRE revised General Test — Provides characteristics of interest and performance information for test takers who took the GRE revised General Test between August 1, 2011, and June 30, 2012. This report is intended to help GRE score users understand the scores they receive and to encourage appropriate score use.
- General Test Percentage Distribution of Scores Within Intended Broad Graduate Major Field — Contains Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing data for seniors and nonenrolled college graduates (reported that they earned their college degrees up to two years prior to their test date) who stated that they intended to do graduate work in one of approximately 300 major fields. The score data are summarized by broad graduate major field categories so that applicants can be compared to others likely to be most similar to them in educational goals.
