GRE® POWERPREP® II, Version 2.0 Software Installation Instructions

Before You Begin

Before you install POWERPREP® II, Version 2.0, make sure your computer system meets the minimum system requirements.

Download the POWERPREP II, Version 2.0 Software

If you have problems downloading the software, see the Downloading/Installation section of the POWERPREP II Frequently Asked Questions for guidance.

To download the software, follow these steps:

  1. Click this button:

  2. Click Save when prompted.

    For Internet Explorer browser versions 6, 7 and 8, this message prompts: "Do you want to run or save this file?". Click Save.

    Browse to your computer Desktop, and click Save.

    We strongly suggest that you save the downloaded file to your Desktop so you will be able to find it easily after the download is complete.

    Although you can click Run to start the installation process without downloading, we recommend that you first download and then install the software.

    A message box shows the progress of the download.

    For Internet Explorer browser version 9, this message is displayed at the bottom of the page:

    Click Save, and select Save from the menu choices that appear.

  3. When the download completes, click Close.

Install the POWERPREP II, Version 2.0 Software

If you have problems installing the software, see the Downloading/Installation section of the POWERPREP II Frequently Asked Questions for guidance.

To install POWERPREP II, follow these steps:

  1. On your computer desktop, double-click this icon (which opens the installation software you just downloaded):

  2. Do not be concerned if you see a security warning. It is safe to install the POWERPREP II software.

    For Internet Explorer browser versions 6, 7 and 8, you could see a security warning like the following one:

    If you see this, click Run or Yes.

    For Internet Explorer browser version 9, when you double-click the POWERPREP II desktop icon, the following is displayed at the bottom of the page:

    Click Actions to display this popup window:

    Click Run anyway to continue the installation.

  3. After the setup is prepared, the Welcome page of the POWERPREP II – InstallShield Wizard opens. Click Next to continue.

  4. On the End User License Agreement page, carefully review the license agreement and then click I accept the terms of the license agreement to agree to the terms.

    You must accept the terms of the agreement to install the software.

  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Choose Destination Location page, click Next to install the software in the default location.

    You can click Change to install in another location, but we recommend you install POWERPREP II in the default location (C:\Program Files\ETS\POWERPREP II).

  7. Click Install.

    A message box shows the progress of the download.

  8. When the installation completes, click Finish.

Start POWERPREP II, Version 2.0 Software

Once you have installed POWERPREP II, you can start the software by following these steps:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, click All Programs.
  2. Open the POWERPREP II group, and click Launch POWERPREP II.

  3. When the web browser opens to the POWERPREP II Software page, review the instructions for using the software.

    If a Windows security message appears, right click the message and choose Allow Blocked Content.

    Once you have successfully opened POWERPREP II, you can delete the installation software. Right click the icon for the installation file on your computer desktop, and click Delete.

Technical Support

If you are experiencing problems downloading the POWERPREP II file:

If you have Windows 7 or Windows Vista and receive the message, "The application is already running" when starting the test preview tool or a practice test, follow the steps below to launch the program correctly:

  • Exit the POWERPREP II software
  • From the desktop, right click on the GRE POWERPREP II shortcut
  • Select "Run as Administrator" from the pop-up menu
