Installation Instructions for the Special Version of ZoomText® Software Designed to Work with POWERPREP® II

Before You Begin

ZoomText® software is a screen magnification program that enlarges and enhances everything on the computer screen within the GRE® POWERPREP® II Practice Tests and Test Preview Tool. This specific version is designed to work with POWERPREP II software only and is automatically invoked by the application once installed. ZoomText is PC-compatible only.

Download and Install the ZoomText Software

To download the software, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Download  button:

    A security warning message appears asking: "Do you want to run or save this file?"

    A security warning message box is shown. The message box provides the Name of the file. The type of file and where the file originated from There are three buttons with the following labels. Run. Save. Cancel. Below the buttons there is a warning that some Internet files can be harmful to your computer.

    Click Save to save ZTWrapperInstall.exe on your Windows desktop or another location on your hard drive easily accessible to you.

    A message box shows the progress of the download.

    A download complete message box is shown. The message box provides the Name of the file. A progress bar and information about the download progress and destination. There are three buttons with the following labels. Run. Open Folder and close. Below the buttons there is a message indicating that the download is safe.

  2. Once the download is complete, click Run to begin installation.

    Or if you accidentally clicked Close, you can begin the installation by double clicking ZTWrapperInstall.exe on your desktop or alternate location where you saved the file.

    Do not be concerned if you see a security warning like the following one. It is safe to install the ZoomText software.

    A User Account Control message box is shown. There is a prompt asking “Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? Information about the program name, verified publisher and file origin are provided. There are two buttons with the following labels. Yes and No.

  3. If you see a security warning like the one above, click Run or Yes.

    ETS Installer window will be displayed and installation will begin automatically.

    An E T S Installer message box is shown. The E T S Logo is in a box on the left hand side. The box on the right hand side has the following message. “Manual (interactive) mode. Starting installation. Extracting Files.” There are two buttons with the following labels. Start and Exit.

    Various messages displaying the installation progress will appear in the window. At the end of the installation "Reboot Required" message is displayed:

    A Reboot Required message box is shown. The following message is provided. “Please note that Zoom Text will correctly function only AFTER re-booting.” There is a button labeled OK.

  4. Click OK.

    An E T S Installer message box is shown. The E T S Logo is in a box on the left hand side. The box on the right hand side has the following message. “Please not that Zoom Text will correctly function only AFTER re-booting. Successfully installed Zoom Text. Press Exit to exit the installer.” There are two buttons with the following labels. Start and Exit.

  5. Click Exit on the ETS installer window and restart your computer.

Start ZoomText Software in the POWERPREP II Interface

The ZoomText software options are available when you start a Practice Test or the Test Preview Tool.

To set the ZoomText options, follow these steps:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, click All Programs.
  2. Open the POWERPREP II group, and click Launch POWERPREP II.

    The image shows the hierarchy of the Power prep II folder. The following documents appear in the folder. G R E Web Site. Launch Power Prep II. Power Prep II Read Me. Power Prep II Web Site.

  3. When the web browser opens to the POWERPREP II page, review the instructions for using the software.

    If a Windows security message appears, right click the message and choose Allow Blocked Content.

  4. Scroll to the bottom left side of the POWERPREP II page, and select the Start Practicing Now button.

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the next page, and select the Continue button.

  6. The Practice Test Options window will open. Select Test Preview Tool or one of the Practice Tests from the drop down list as desired.

  7. In the Accommodations for Test Takers with Disabilities area, click Choose Accommodations.

    The Accommodations Options window opens.

    The Accommodations Options window is shown. There is a drop down boxes. The first box is labeled Additional Break. The option Select Time is indicated. The second box is labeled Extended Time. The option Select Time Multiplier is indicated. There are two check boxes below the drop down boxes. The first check box is labeled Adjustable Colors. The second check box is labeled Zoom Text Screen Magnification. There are two buttons with the following labels. Ok and Cancel.

  8. Click the appropriate checkboxes to select the desired ZoomText accommodations.

    • Adjustable Colors: Allows selection of text and background color scheme for ease of reading on screen
    • ZoomText Screen Magnification: Enables you to adjust the display to magnify the screen contents
  9. Click OK. The Current Accommodations screen will display the selected options as On.

  10. Click Start Test. Starting the test, opens the Verification Tool window.
  11. Click Run Test to pass the Verify Resolution Change and Screen Calibration test.
  12. Click Next to move on to the Verify Special Accommodations Software test.
  13. Click Run Test and a message will ask if you can see the magnified text. Click Yes.

    When the ZoomText installation has been verified, a "Test PASSED" message appears in the window.

    The E T S, I B T Client Verification Tool window is shown. The top half of the window is labeled Verify Special Accommodations Software and has the following message. Testing accommodations, such as screen magnification, require installation of the Java Access Bridge and the A I Squared Zoom Text product. Click on Run Test to check the installation of these components. The bottom half of the window is labeled Test Results. The following information is provided. Zoom Text is functional. Restoring magnification to 1x. Stopping Zoom Text. Test Passed. There are three buttons with the following labels at the bottom of the window. Run Test. Previous Text. Finish.

  14. Click Finish and the practice test will begin automatically.

    Within the practice test an Adjust Display button is available in the tool bar at the top of the screen. This button allows you to adjust the color scheme and magnification during the test.

    Note: The Verification Tool tests are run only once on a computer. You will be able to start the practice test directly next time on the same computer.
