Princeton, N.J. (March 12, 2009) —
Educational Testing Service (ETS) has finalized a deal with Scantron Corporation to deliver the ETS SIR II™ course evaluation tool as part of Scantron’s Class Climate course evaluation solution.
ETS has offered its student survey product line, called the Student Instructional Report (SIR), for more than 25 years. It is a multidimensional evaluation tool used primarily by universities and colleges to assess course effectiveness. SIR II is available in three formats: SIR II™ Paper/Pencil, SIR II™ Online and eSIR, which offers additional questions tailored to the online learning experience.
Class Climate is a web-based software solution used to conduct course evaluation surveys at colleges and universities. The software offers a survey management platform including a questionnaire designer for online and paper-based surveys, broad flexibility and customization, and robust reporting capabilities to ensure the results are in clear, readable formats. Class Climate saves time and money by streamlining the survey process through automatic matching of surveys to courses, report generation and automated notifications.
“This is a promising opportunity for ETS and Scantron,” says Gene Bouie, Manager, Product Management at ETS. "We're happy to join forces with a respected organization like Scantron to the ultimate benefit of customers."
“At Scantron, we are always looking for ways to better serve our customers,” states Mike Seeman, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Scantron. “By partnering with ETS, we’re not just adding new features and capabilities, we’re adding the experience and credibility of a trusted education organization.”
The SIR II products take a structured, comprehensive approach to course evaluation. Students respond anonymously to 45 standardized questions. Class Climate users can then upload their reports to the SIR II database and view comparative data from more than 180 institutions nationwide.
