Comparability
There are likely to be multiple assessments developed to measure the new internationally-benchmarked common standards, and policymakers will want to make comparisons among students who take different assessments.
The ability to make such comparisons will be influenced by a variety of factors, and ETS, along with collaborators Pearson and the College Board, created a document titled Thoughts on Linking and Comparing Assessments of Common Core Standards. The document discusses the types of comparisons that can and cannot be made and the types of techniques that could be used to make these comparisons across different statewide assessment systems.
