Research and Policy

ETS Research & Development (R&D) has nearly 600 staff members who provide assessment development services and conduct extensive research on our programs, products and services.

We also conduct research on key K–12 education topics such as:

• Achievement Gaps in Education
• Students with Disabilities
• English-language Learners

The R&D team supports our clients with expert advice on the various psychometric, legal and security issues faced by K–12 testing programs. By relying on a research-based organization like ETS, customers have access to some of the most extensive education research in the world.

NAEP and ETS

Since 1983, ETS, on behalf of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), has developed content, analyzed data, and reported results for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often called "The Nation's Report Card". Learn more about NAEP.
