ETS Announces 2011 TOEFL® Scholarship Program in India

Scholarships Valued at US$60,000 – An Increase of US$10,000 over 2010 Funding – Are Available Specifically for Indian Students

Educational Testing Service (ETS), the creator of the TOEFL® test, announced today that the TOEFL Scholarship Program recognizing academic excellence by TOEFL test takers will be offered for the second consecutive year in India. The 2011 TOEFL Scholarship Program will issue awards valued at approximately US$60,000, an increase of US$10,000 in award funding over the 2010 TOEFL Scholarship Program.

A total of nine TOEFL scholarships will be awarded to Indian students demonstrating academic excellence. Three US$10,000 scholarships and six US$5,000 scholarships will be presented to Indian students for academic study in 2011 at a college or university listed in the TOEFL® Destinations Directory, including institutions in the U.K., Canada and the United States. TOEFL scholarship winners will be notified in May 2011.

To be eligible for a TOEFL scholarship, applicants must currently live in India, begin undergraduate or graduate study in 2011 at a college or university listed in the TOEFL Destinations Directory, possess a valid TOEFL score, hold a grade point average of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale, and submit a completed application form with a written essay and official transcript. Completed applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2011.
