Princeton, N.J (March 31, 2010) —
Educational Testing Service today released a new video, "Welcome to Your Computerized Praxis™ Testing Experience," which provides test takers with a preview of what to expect when visiting a Prometric® Testing Center to take Praxis I®: Pre-Professional Skills Tests.
The seven-minute virtual tour reviews identification requirements, the registration process, security procedures, score reporting and the check-out process. Moreover, test takers can see how the exam administration actually begins, including initial prompts, background questions and a tutorial with instructions and question types.
"We understand that test takers may have questions prior to their test administration and that this uncertainty can lead to some anxiety," says Linda Tyler, ETS Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Teacher Licensure and Certification. "ETS is striving to support teacher candidates. This video is another step we’ve taken to help create a stress-free testing experience."
Candidates can choose to take Praxis I Reading, Mathematics and Writing assessments as single tests or as a combined test available in a single testing session with an optional 15-minute break.
For additional questions about the Praxis assessments, test registration, what to expect when visiting a Prometric Testing Center or to locate your nearest Prometric Testing Center please visit www.ets.org/praxis and www.prometric.com.
In related news, ETS recently launched an innovative test preparation tool to help teacher candidates prepare for a Praxis Elementary Education test used for teacher licensure in 26 states and territories. The Elementary Education: Content Knowledge Interactive Practice Test is a new, first-of-its-kind practice test that allows candidates to simulate an online testing experience with a fully interactive, retired practice test for the Elementary Education: Content Knowledge Test (code 0014). ETS plans to release more interactive practice tests for additional Praxis titles based on test-taker feedback. The next interactive practice test will be available later this summer.
