Amsterdam, the Netherlands (November 7, 2011) —

Designed to disseminate skills, knowledge and best practices in the field of international higher education on a bi-annual basis, the European Association of International Education (EAIE) Academy is targeted at international professionals connected by their desire for professional development. During the course of one week, a variety of training courses will be held, all at one location. This collective grouping of higher education professionals and quality trainers will create a profound knowledge exchange and set the scene for inspirational advancements in the field of higher education.

The first EAIE Academy is being held in Valencia, Spain, from 14–19 November and will offer eight training courses on topics including credential evaluation, marketing and recruitment, management and internationalisation strategies, and intercultural communication. Participants can choose to attend one course or combine courses and stay for the entire week.

EAIE Director Leonard Engel has high hopes for the Academy: "By bringing together higher educational professionals from a variety of international backgrounds ― each passionate about their field of work ― and giving them a focused arena to develop their skills and expertise through comprehensive training courses, we believe the Academy will provide the ideal platform for advancements in the internationalisation of higher education."

The Academy has been developed by the EAIE, a non-profit organisation that promotes the internationalisation of higher education in Europe and beyond. The EAIE connects thousands of higher education professionals and provides a forum for professional development, information dissemination and networking. The EAIE’s annual conference, the largest of its kind in Europe, attracts more than 4,000 participants.

The EAIE Academy is sponsored by Educational Testing Service (ETS), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance quality and equity in education for people worldwide by creating assessments based on rigorous research. Founded in 1947, ETS develops, administers and scores more than 50 million tests annually — including the GRE® and TOEFL® tests — in more than 180 countries, at over 9,000 locations worldwide. "At ETS, we believe the EAIE Academy will be a unique forum to combine ETS research capabilities with the training needs of Europe," says Maria Victoria Calabrese, Academic & Government Relations Director, ETS Global, The Netherlands.
