Princeton, N.J. (February 2, 2009) —
Educational Testing Service, the world’s largest educational research and assessment organization, and Universal Language and Computer Institute (ULCI), announced today that they have entered into an agreement on the distribution of TOEFL® Practice Online (TPO), a web-based simulation test of the TOEFL® iBT.
As part of this agreement, ULCI has been appointed ETS’s first Preferred Vendor in Nepal, expanding its current relationship as a Certified Test Administration Site to include the offering of the TPO product.
“ULCI’s interest in offering TPO is an excellent example of how far a reach ETS products and services now have, and how important English language learning is in the global market,” says John Kochanski, ETS Preferred Network Management Director-Asia Pacific Region. “Nepal, like its neighbors China and India, wants to provide opportunity — not only for its nation, but for its people as well.”
TPO questions are derived from previously administered TOEFL iBT tests and delivered in an environment that simulates the actual test experience. ETS provides the added benefit of automated scoring for personal guidance so that test takers can become familiar with the test format and measure their readiness for test day. TPO is easily accessible through the Internet, regardless of time or location.
“ULCI has been supporting ETS testing programs in Nepal for some time, and we are excited to be expanding our relationship with them as a new member of the ETS Preferred Network,” says Philip Tabbiner, Senior Vice President of ETS’s Global, Partnerships & Business Development Division. “Their dedication and interest in English language learning is impressive and we look forward to working with them in their offering of TPO.”
