ETS's ProofWriter™ Service to be Offered in Korea

EduCherry Inc. appointed distributor for ProofWriter and Criterion

ETS Global BV, a subsidiary of Educational Testing Service (ETS), has signed an exclusive distribution contract with Korea-based EduCherry Inc. (www.educherry.com) to provide its ProofWriter™ online solution for automated writing feedback service. It joins ETS's Criterion® online essay evaluation service, as part of EduCherry Inc.'s comprehensive suite of online teaching and learning tools for English writing.

The ProofWriter system, which will launch later this year, is a web-based system that provides automated diagnostic feedback of student writing within seconds. Like ETS's Criterion® Service, the ProofWriter system uses the e-rater automated scoring engine, and a suite of programs that detect errors in grammar, usage, and mechanics, identify discourse elements in the essay, and recognize elements of undesirable style. Together, these evaluation capabilities provide students with specific feedback to help them improve their writing skills.

The ProofWriter tool is different from Criterion service in that it is designed for use with shorter forms and types of writing such as letters and e-mails. The writing entered in the system may be in a single paragraph or a single sentence.

The ProofWriter tool offers an easily accessible design that can be further tailored to suit customer or organizational needs. This service is expected to satisfy the needs of Korean users interested in providing this resource to English language learners aiming to improve their writing skills.
