Princeton, N.J. (December 1, 2009) —
ETS's Scholarship & Recognition Programs (SRP), which annually administers millions of dollars in new and renewable awards in the U.S. and abroad, will coordinate a program recognizing academic excellence by Chinese test takers. ETS, the creator of both the TOEFL® and TOEIC® tests, will honor 80 high-performing Chinese students by awarding a total of approximately $100,000 for academic study in 2010.
SRP provides program consultation, program design, application material development and guidelines for the review of the applications. The review and identification of recipients will be the responsibility of a committee of educators from China. SRP will also provide professional consultation during this phase.
The scholarship recognizing Chinese students follows earlier successful programs coordinated by SRP that ETS launched last year for Korean and Indian test takers. Under the program for China, 40 TOEFL® scholarships will be awarded directly to the universities of 20 undergraduate and 20 graduate students demonstrating excellence. In addition, 40 TOEIC® scholarships will be also awarded to students seeking a bachelor degree at a university in China.
"For more than a half century we have worked with organizations of all sizes to launch, administer and enhance scholarship programs," says William McCambley Jr., Director of SRP. "Our expertise has helped bring scholarship programs to life for Fortune 500 companies, prominent foundations and other organizations. We are honored to provide our expertise in scholarship program design and management as ETS continues to recognize excellence in education while advancing English usage in higher education and in the global workplace."
The SRP program administers all facets of a scholarship program and offers the experience and expertise to enhance a single program component such as:
- scholarship program design
- full-service program administration
- applicant pool development
- verifiably fair and objective student evaluation
- committee review and administration
- program evaluation
Since 1956, the program has overseen millions of dollars in scholarship funding for many large, well-known corporations, businesses and private foundations.
