ETS Announces 2012 Academic Scholarship Program in Korea

Scholarships Valued at US$144,000 will be awarded to Korean TOEFL® and TOEIC® Test Takers

Educational Testing Service (ETS), the creator of the TOEFL® and TOEIC® tests, announced today the launch of the 2012 ETS Scholarship Program in Korea.

For the fourth consecutive year, this scholarship program will honor Korean TOEFL and TOEIC test takers who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.

ETS will recognize 48 scholarship winners (24 TOEFL test takers and 24 TOEIC test takers) by awarding a total of US$144,000 in funding for study in Korea and overseas for the 2012 academic school year. Scholarship applications will be accepted now until April 13, 2012. ETS Scholarship Winners will be announced in May 2012.

The TOEIC tests are the most widely accepted English-language assessments for the workplace. With more than six million tests administered last year, the TOEIC tests are the global standard for assessing workplace English-language communication skills for companies, institutions and government agencies around the world. The TOEIC tests currently are used by more than 10,000 organizations in 120 countries worldwide.

Twenty four US$3,000 TOEIC Scholarships will be awarded to university students studying in Korea. More information regarding the TOEIC tests is available at http://exam.ybmsisa.com.

For nearly 50 years, the TOEFL test has been the most widely accepted English-language assessment used for admissions purposes worldwide. Currently, more than 8,000 institutions accept the TOEFL test in more than 130 countries, including Australia, the U.K., Canada and the United States.

Twelve US$3,000 TOEFL Scholarships will be awarded to students currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Korea. Twelve US$3,000 TOEFL Scholarships will be awarded to students beginning study abroad for an undergraduate or graduate degree at an institution listed in the TOEFL® Destinations Directory. The ETS Scholarship and Recognition Program (SRP) group, which annually administers millions of dollars in new and renewable awards in the United States and abroad, is coordinating the ETS Scholarship Program in Korea. In addition to program consultation, SRP developed application materials and guidelines for the review of the applications.
