Princeton, N.J. (August 25, 2011) —
ETS, the creator of the TOEFL® test, announced today that complimentary Propell® workshops for the TOEFL iBT® test will be held in Tokyo and Kyoto. The informative sessions provide hands-on teaching strategies for English-language instructors at the high school or university levels in preparing students for the TOEFL iBT test.
The workshops offer English-language instructors concrete techniques and activities to use in the classroom for building an engaging TOEFL iBT curriculum that effectively prepares students for test day. The one-day sessions, led by Valerie Becker, a senior TOEFL iBT expert, will include a comprehensive overview of the TOEFL iBT test, a detailed review of the scoring guidelines for the Writing and Speaking sections of the TOEFL iBT test, practice scoring sample test-taker responses and an engaging discussion on practical applications to guide classroom instruction. The full-day workshops will be available to English teachers on:
- September 17 in Tokyo at the Kodomo-no-shiro
- September 19 in Kyoto at the Kyoto Research Park
"The workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn about the TOEFL iBT test directly from a senior assessment specialist from Educational Testing Service's headquarters," commented Teresa Sanchez-Lazer, Executive Director of the TOEFL Program. "We look forward to the exchange of innovative ideas and concrete strategies for English- language teachers to implement in the classroom to assist Japanese students in strengthening their English skills."
Each conference participant will receive a workshop manual and a certificate of attendance.
