Princeton, N.J. (September 23, 2011) —
ETS, the creator of the TOEFL® test, will host a Propell® workshop for the TOEFL iBT® test in Seoul on Saturday, September 24th. The free-of-charge session, taking place at the COEX Conference Room, will provide hands-on teaching strategies for 50 English- language professionals working at the university level to prepare students for the TOEFL iBT test.
The one-day workshop offers concrete strategies and activities for English- language instructors to use in the classroom to build an engaging TOEFL iBT curriculum to effectively prepare students for test day. Led by Valerie Becker, a senior TOEFL iBT expert, the workshop will include:
- a comprehensive overview of the TOEFL iBT test
- a detailed review of the scoring guidelines for the Writing and Speaking sections of the TOEFL iBT test
- practice scoring sample test-taker responses and
- an engaging discussion on practical applications to guide classroom instruction
"The Propell Workshop offers an interactive professional development experience for teachers to learn more about the TOEFL iBT test from a highly- skilled assessment specialist from ETS's headquarters," commented Teresa Sanchez-Lazer, Executive Director of the TOEFL Program. "This is a small gesture in which ETS can give back to Korean teachers and offer a creative way to expand their knowledge of the TOEFL iBT test and provide innovative ways to assist them in engaging their students in developing their English- language skills."
Each conference participant will receive a workshop manual and a certificate of attendance. More information regarding the TOEFL Program is available at www.TOEFLgoanywhere.org/kr.
