Princeton, N.J. (April 13, 2010) —
Educational Testing Service (ETS) and Taiwan Country Master Distributor, Chun Shin, launched the ETS TOEIC® Scholarship Program for Taiwan during a press conference earlier today in Taipei. ETS, which annually administers new and renewable awards in the U.S. and abroad, will coordinate a scholarship program with Chun Shin, recognizing academic excellence among Taiwan’s students.
"The goal of this scholarship program is to help Taiwanese students as they develop English language skills needed for success in the global workplace,” said Zoubir Yazid, Managing Director of ETS Global. “We are pleased to work alongside Chun Shin in this effort to support students who are passionate about achieving their career goals.”
ETS, the creator of the TOEIC test, will honor 50 Taiwanese students by awarding a total of 50,000 USD (more than 1.5 million TWD) in scholarships to pay for academic studies and expenses. Chun Shin will begin accepting applications for the ETS TOEIC Scholarship Program in Taiwan on April 19, 2010, and the winners will be announced and awarded in December 2010.
“The TOEIC scholarship program aims to encourage Taiwanese students to improve the skills needed for international communication in English, to cultivate global values and to engage in global concerns,” says T. J. Shao, Chairman of Chun Shin, Taiwan. “Scholarships will be awarded to students who have achieved success in their study of English and demonstrate a commitment to success in the global workplace.”
Celebrating 30 years of service to organizations worldwide, the TOEIC test is the global standard for measuring workplace English communication skills. Used by over 9,000 companies, institutions and government agencies in more than 90 countries worldwide, more than 5 million TOEIC tests were administered in 2009.
