Walt MacDonald has been appointed Executive Vice President, Programs and Services for Educational Testing Service (ETS). MacDonald was formerly Senior Vice President of Higher Education and School Assessments at ETS.

With this appointment MacDonald becomes responsible for all of ETS’s products and services including well-known assessments such as the GRE® (Graduate Record Examinations®), the TOEFL® (Test of English as a Foreign Language™) test, the TOEIC® (Test of English for International Communication™) test, Praxis™ teacher licensing examinations and The College Board’s SAT® and Advanced Placement (AP®) programs.

“In a career at ETS that spans over 25 years, Walt’s breadth of experience across all program areas will serve him well in this new role,” says ETS President and CEO Kurt Landgraf. “Consolidating our programs and services under his leadership will focus our efforts more effectively and, as a result, ensure our success in a changing marketplace.”

“Education policy is shifting rapidly, and increased competition is altering our business landscape,” says MacDonald. “With this consolidation, we’ll be able to make rapid decisions and move faster than ever to meet the evolving needs of our clients and customers.”

In 2002, MacDonald was named Associate Vice President for College Board Programs, School & College Services Division. In that role he assumed responsibility for ETS’s day-to-day program operations for The College Board. MacDonald was appointed Senior Vice President of Higher Education and School Assessments in 2007.

Earlier this year MacDonald completed Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program.

MacDonald earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a doctorate in ecology from Rutgers University. He has also completed postdoctoral work for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
