What is the ParaPro Assessment?
The ParaPro Assessment is for prospective and practicing paraprofessionals. It measures skills and knowledge in reading, math and writing and the ability to apply those skills and knowledge to assist in classroom instruction.
What is the format and length of the test?
This 2½ hour test consists of 90 multiple-choice questions in reading, writing and math. Approximately two-thirds of the questions focus on basic skills and knowledge and the remaining one-third focuses on applying those skills and knowledge in a classroom setting.
In what language is the test?
The test is in English.
How is the test given?
The test is given in paper- and Internet-based formats.
How much does the test cost?
The test fee is $45. The fee is non-refundable.

When can I take the test?
The Internet-based test is given continually throughout the year in participating school districts. The paper-based test is offered four times per testing year.
How do I register?
Internet-based test: Pre-registration is not required for this test. This test is administered only in participating school districts. Contact your district's administrative office for availability in your area.

Where can I take the test?

How are scores reported?
Internet-based test: Your unofficial scores are available onscreen and can be printed at the end of the test. Your official score report is mailed approximately two weeks after the test date and is automatically reported to the school district that purchased the assessment.Paper-based test: Your score report is mailed approximately four weeks after the test date and is automatically reported to your designated recipient. If you test in Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington or West Virginia, a copy of your scores is automatically sent to the state's teacher credentialing office.
