Keeping Our Edge: Americans Speak on Education and Competitiveness

Americans recognize the important role that public schools play in contributing to the nation's success, and are concerned about the country's ability to remain competitive unless our public schools improve.
Despite major reform efforts at the national and state levels, Americans' ratings of the public schools have not changed over the past six years. In particular, the public feels strongly that America's schools must do a better job of preparing students for the increasingly technical jobs of the modern economy.
A majority says that the U.S. economy stands to suffer within the next 10 years unless the education system improves.
