Alaska: Praxis Test Requirements
In September 2009, ETS will administer a new version of the Speech Communication test. The test name will change to Speech Communication: Content Knowledge, and will have a new test code: 0221. The new test covers the same content as the previous test. However, scores are reported on a different scale, so requirements will vary from previous versions. All scores for discontinued tests are reportable for 10 years. Consult the Test Requirements table for specific score requirements.
Alaska requires a social security number (SSN) in order to process teacher certification paperwork. ETS does not require your SSN for its own purposes, but will submit it to Alaska with your test results. Failure to provide your SSN will delay processing of your certification application.
The first digit of the Session/Test Code indicates the session during which the test is offered in the 2009-10 testing year. There are no session numbers for the computer-based tests (CBT), which are given by appointment, as explained in Praxis I Overview.
The CBT tests are offered by appointment through a national network of Prometric™ Testing Centers (many Prometric Testing Centers are located inside Sylvan Learning Centers) and selected institutional sites. Visit Computer-based Test Centers for the locations near you.
You may take each Computerized PPST once per calendar month up to six times in a 12-month period. If you violate this restriction, the scores from your retest will not be reported and your test fees will not be refunded. This applies even if you canceled your scores on a test taken previously.
Alaska accepts the following Praxis II test scores as one option for earning an additional content area endorsement. The tests below are not required for persons that have completed either an approved preparation program or a content degree in the area.
