Conditional Certificate in a Teaching Field (CCTF) Approach

For Those Applying Based on the Conditional Certificate in a Teaching Field (CCTF) Approach

Certification based on the CCTF Approach may ONLY be requested by an employing Alabama county/city superintendent. A Letter of Eligibility is required for this approach.

Important: TEST CHANGES and SCORE INCREASES are effective for tests taken and applications received in the Educator Certification Section of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) on or after September 1, 2020. The score earned on the date a test was taken MAY or MAY NOT be deemed as "passing" when the test taker's application is received in the Educator Certification Section of the ALSDE. Information can be viewed in the Educator Assessment Policies.

For the Letter of Eligibility:

  • Pass the required Praxis Subject Assessments (content tests), as indicated in the charts below, before October 1 of the scholastic year for which the Letter of Eligibility is to be issued.

For the issuance of the second CCTF:

No tests are required

For the issuance of the third CCTF:

No tests are required
