Alabama Additional Teaching Field (CBT) Approach

General testing information for all applicants may be found in the Overview of Alabama Testing Requirements.

Visit the Educator Certification Section for information regarding this certification approach.

There are limitations for certain teaching fields; therefore, individuals who choose to test prior to reviewing the requirements for the CBT approach do so at their own risk.

Individuals applying for the issuance of Professional Educator Certificates through the Additional Teaching Field Approach must successfully complete the current Alabama Educator Certification Assessment Program (AECAP) Praxis® Subject Assessments (content tests) requirements as indicated in the charts below.

Important: TEST CHANGES and SCORE INCREASES are effective for tests taken and applications received in the Educator Certification Section of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) on or after September 1, 2019. The score earned on the date a test was taken MAY or MAY NOT be deemed as "passing" when the test taker's application is received in the Educator Certification Section of the ALSDE. Information can be viewed in the Educator Assessment Policies.

Please Note:

Find your certification area below to determine which test(s) you need to take. To learn more about a specific test, click the test title. Once you know which tests you should take, find out how to register for Praxis® tests or read the Praxis test retake policy.
