Alabama Certificate Reinstatement Approach

All applicants seeking to reinstate an Alabama certificate that has lapsed for less than 12 months may choose to successfully complete the Alabama Educator Certification Testing Program (AECTP) Praxis II® test requirements for certificate reinstatement as indicated in the chart below. A passing score on the AECTP Praxis II test(s) must have been attained on a test administration date after the most recent expiration date of the certificate(s) being reinstated.

All applicants seeking to reinstate an Alabama certificate that has lapsed for more than twelve months must successfully complete the AECTP Praxis II test requirements for certificate reinstatement as indicated in the chart below. A passing score on the AECTP Praxis II test(s) must have been attained on a test administration date after the most recent expiration date of the certificate(s) being reinstated.

Previously accepted Praxis II test(s), which may possibly be accepted to meet current test requirements if specific conditions are met, may be found at Previously Accepted Praxis II Tests.

If reinstating Alabama certification in an area that is not listed below, one of the other specified reinstatement options must be met and may be found at Certification Forms.

In general, unless it is specifically stated that a calculator is permitted or required for a particular test, calculators may not be used on Praxis tests (see Calculator Use).
