Ohio Test Requirements

Most tests are offered in both Session 1 and Session 2. Refer to the fees page for tests that are restricted to a particular session.

In general, unless it is specifically stated that a calculator is permitted or required for a particular test, calculators may not be used on any Praxis tests (see Calculator Use).

If you test in Ohio, your score report will be sent automatically to the Ohio Department of Education. If you test outside of Ohio, select the Ohio Department of Education (state code 7945) as a score recipient when you register or on an additional score report request.

Notes:

  • In general, test codes that begin with "5" are delivered in computer format; codes that begin with "0" are delivered on paper.
  • "CDT" refers to computer-delivered tests. "PDT" refers to paper-delivered tests.

Educational Paraprofessional No Praxis II subject test required.School Districts may opt to use the Praxis ParaPro Assessment.*      

* For the ParaPro Assessment, the State of Ohio has set a suggested qualifying score of 456. Contact your local school district to decide whether this assessment is required and if the state qualifying score is used.

Third Grade Reading Guarantee

The Ohio State Board of Education has adopted the Praxis Teaching Reading: Elementary Education test for Ohio teachers or teacher candidates choosing the testing option within the Ohio Third Grade Reading Guarantee.
