ETS® Proficiency Profile Comparative Data

Comparative Data Guides Available for Both Proctored and Nonproctored Administrations!

Comparative data lets you compare the scores and proficiency classifications of your students with those of a large group of students at other institutions.

Proctored Administrations

Statistics are provided by class level (freshman, sophomore, etc.) and by Carnegie classification (type of institution).

Entering Freshman (No hours completed)

Freshman (Fewer than 30 semester hours or fewer than 45 quarter hours completed)

Sophomore (30–60 semester hours or 45–90 quarter hours completed)

Junior (61–90 semester hours or 91–145 quarter hours completed)

Senior (More than 90 semester hours or more than 145 quarter hours completed)

All Students

The comparative data tables above are based on administrations of ETS® Proficiency Profile in proctored environments. Note that unproctored administrations do not necessarily occur only in distance learning environments. Campus-based programs often administer unproctored versions of ETS Proficiency Profile as a matter of convenience, and these programs will be included in the comparative data for unproctored test administrations. Because of the limited number of students taking unproctored versions of the test to date, these comparative data tables cannot be parsed into separate reporting groups by Carnegie classification or class level.

Unproctored Administrations (All Students)

To achieve a more specific reference group for your institution’s analyses, you may consider the Custom Comparative Data Report.

Essay (All Students)

Because of the limited number of students taking the ETS Proficiency Profile essay to date, these comparative data tables cannot be parsed into separate reporting groups by Carnegie classification or class level.
