Abstract

This Policy Information Report is based on the results of the National Adult Literacy Survey, conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics through a contract with Educational Testing Service. This brief volume provides highlights from that survey, including actual examples of what tasks adults can perform at each level of prose, document, and quantitative literacy.
