Test disclosure resulted in the need to introduce more test forms each year than was formerly the case. This study compares the capability of several equating methods to maintain verbal, quantitative, and analytical score scales that have stable interpretations over time. The study is based on data collected at several operational administrations of the GRE Aptitude Test. Information is provided on equating methods, particularly preoperational section equating, that might be useful in improving test security or in decreasing the amount of time between test administration score reporting.
