Cassius Johnson has worked in the field of education for more than a decade. He has significant experience in developing and advancing state and federal policies that create incentives and drive resources to programs and strategies that increase educational attainment levels among youth and adults in the United States. Before joining the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Johnson was Associate Vice President at Jobs for the Future (JFF), a research and advocacy organization where he played a key role in establishing the organization's Washington, D.C. office.
Previously, Johnson has served as Chief of Staff for a member of the Texas House of Representatives. He handled legislation focused on enhancing student disciplinary laws, improving alternative education programs and addressing the overall quality of education available to out-of-school youth populations in Texas. He also worked to build a diverse coalition of stakeholders to frame and pursue legislative and policy solutions, including organizing a statewide legislative summit to launch reform efforts.
