Program Update

As 2014 progresses, the Praxis™ program will continue to enhance your teacher licensure program with:

Computer-delivered Test Rollout Schedule

The Praxis program continues to roll out Praxis tests by computer to provide candidates with increased convenience. Computer-delivered testing gives users access to faster score reporting and an expanded network of more than 440 computerized test centers.

The Praxis program will continue transitioning paper-delivered tests to computer delivery; by the end of 2014 all Praxis tests will be computer delivered. The list below shows which paper-delivered tests are transitioning to computer delivery through October 2014. This list displays the name of each test followed by its test code number in parenthesis.

Candidates can find the complete list of computer-delivered tests by visiting the Praxis website or by logging into their Praxis account and searching for a test by ZIP code, state of certification or real-time seat availability.

Upcoming Multistate Standard Setting Studies

The new testing year begins with the continuation of National Advisory Committee meetings, plus the regeneration of test titles and MSSS to keep the test content fresh, relevant and current with changing requirements for prospective teachers.

Regenerated Tests for 2014–2015

The Praxis program will be rolling out 14 regenerated assessments in the 2014–2015 testing year. Five of these tests have been redesigned to align with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), including the Praxis Elementary Education offerings.

Praxis Performance Assessment for Teachers (PPAT) Update

Development work on the PPAT is now complete and pilot field testing is underway for the assessment. Pilot testing will represent teacher preparation programs from 17 states and territories.

Once fully launched in fall 2014, the PPAT can be used by states and institutions of higher education across the country. This assessment will be aligned with InTASC Model Core Teaching Standards and have both formative and summative tasks. For more information, visit the PPAT website at www.ets.org/praxis/ppat. Test Preparation Updates

Study Companions: Praxis Study Companions are now available for all Praxis test titles. These free, comprehensive guides provide test takers with one document that houses valuable test prep information for each test, including Tests at a Glance, general information, study tips and information from the website to help test takers know what to expect on testing day. Links to new videos and a computer-testing demonstration are also included.

Interactive Practice Tests: Interactive Practice Tests (IPTs) are now available for Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators tests. The IPTs are full-length practice tests that are available through the ETS Store at $17.95 per subscription. Each practice test allows candidates to answer questions and simulates the testing experience. After each practice test, candidates can view their results as well as answers to all questions.

These IPTs provide answers with explanations, a timer to simulate testing conditions and automated scoring features including:

Live Test Taker Webinars

These free webinars deliver in-depth information about the tests and offer teacher candidates the opportunity to interact and ask questions. Webinar attendees are also presented with a plan to help guide their preparation for the Praxis tests.

The Praxis Client Conference

Dates for the 2014 Praxis Client Conference are May 1–2. This year's conference will be held at the Chauncey Conference Center on the campus of ETS in Princeton, N.J., and online in a virtual environment. We look forward to sharing how we continue to expand services to meet your state's specific needs while making innovative advancements in test design.
