The TOEFL® program is hosting a Propell® workshop for teachers at the 2012 NAFSA conference in Houston, Texas, USA. The workshop offers an in-depth look at the TOEFL iBT® test. Designed specifically for English-language instructors, the workshop offers hands-on, innovative strategies for teachers in preparing students for the TOEFL test.
The session will take place on May 28, 2012 from 1–5 p.m. The workshop will provide an extensive review of the TOEFL test while offering educators a platform to discuss successes and challenges in advancing English-language skills for students.
The half-day workshop will offer instructional techniques and learning activities English-language instructors can use in the classroom to build an engaging TOEFL iBT curriculum, which will help to effectively prepare students for test day. Led by an ETS-trained specialist and based on the integrated-skills approach, the workshop will include:
- a comprehensive overview of the TOEFL iBT test
- a detailed review of the scoring guidelines for the Writing and Speaking sections
- practice in scoring sample test-taker responses
- an engaging discussion on practical applications to guide classroom instruction
