Princeton, N.J. (December 6, 2010) —
Educational Testing Service (ETS) has been working with IIG Vietnam (IIG), Country Master Distributor for the TOEIC® test, since IIG was established in 2000. This year IIG celebrates 10 years of support to companies, educational organizations and government agencies looking to enhance their recruitment and placement practices through use of the TOEIC test.
"We are pleased to participate in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of IIG's exceptional work in Vietnam," said Mohammad Kousha, Executive Director of ETS’s Global Division. "IIG continues to contribute significantly to the growth of business in Vietnam while helping companies play an integral role in the global economy. We look forward to expanding our support for the development of English-language skills among Vietnam’s students and professionals."
Earlier this year IIG began a significant collaboration with the Vietnam Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) to use the TOEIC test within Vietnam’s vocational training system. The TOEIC test is now being used as a tool to measure proficiency and progress and as an exit requirement for graduation from a vocational school or college.
"This important decision made by MOLISA will help to improve the foreign language competence and increase the competitiveness of Vietnamese Vocational college graduates", said Doan Hong Nam, IIG Vietnam's President. "IIG has had a very strong decade building successful partnerships with agencies and organizations across Vietnam, and we look forward to continuing on this path in the years to come."
In representing the TOEIC test in Vietnam, IIG has helped ETS to expand the use of the TOEIC test, providing more students and professionals with the assessment they need to succeed in today's complex global workplace. ETS and IIG continue to work with Vietnam's professional and education leaders to increase awareness of the importance of English-language communication skills and create opportunities for continued language development.
As part of this effort, ETS has coordinated with IIG Vietnam to offer the Propell™ Teacher Workshops for the TOEIC® and TOEFL® Tests. IIG has four ETS-certified Propell trainers, and have successfully trained over two hundred teachers in Vietnam this year. The TOEIC Propell Workshops are designed to arm teachers with the best teaching strategies and learning tools that allow them to give their students the best chance for success in learning English and demonstrating their language proficiency on the TOEIC test. The TOEIC Propell Workshops not only help teachers increase students’ proficiency level, but improve their use of English in the workplace.
With more than five million TOEIC tests administered last year, the TOEIC tests are the global standard for assessing workplace English language communication skills for companies, institutions and government agencies around the world. The TOEIC tests are currently used by more than 10,000 organizations in 120 countries.
