Princeton, N.J. (December 1, 2009) —
Availability of the TOEIC® (Test of English for International Communication™) tests for non-native English-speaking students in the United States is expanding as a result of a new agreement between ETS and the America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc. (AMIDEAST). The TOEIC test is administered more than five million times a year and is used by 9,000 corporations, educational institutions and government agencies worldwide.
In the agreement, AMIDEAST, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization, becomes ETS’s ETS Preferred Associate (EPA) by signing a three-year contract to promote and sell TOEIC products in the United States. This increases the availability of the TOEIC® Listening and Reading Test and TOEIC® Speaking and Writing Tests in the United States domestic market.
"The signing of this contract broadens our relationship with AMIDEAST and will help to make ETS products and services more available to the people that can benefit from them," states David Hunt, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ETS’s Global Division. "AMIDEAST has supported our efforts through their network of offices in the Middle East, and we are pleased that they have agreed to extend their services on behalf of the TOEIC tests to the United States."
"AMIDEAST is pleased to expand its long partnership with ETS — a global leader in the education testing field. Tests like the TOEIC offer important opportunities to both institutions and individuals to advance their competitive positions in the global marketplace," states AMIDEAST President and Chief Executive Officer, Theodore Kattouf.
"AMIDEAST has been a long-standing partner of ETS and ETS Global, first offering the TOEFL test in the Middle East in 1974," adds Lauren Weil, ETS Regional Director. "We are looking forward to expanding access to the TOEIC products into the United States and ETS core products into the Middle East through our relationships with AMIDEAST."
