I am Jamie Mikeska,
a Managing Senior Research Scientist in the Foundational Research Center at ETS.
Together with our cross disciplinary team
of natural language processing experts, teacher education experts,
and assessment developers, we've embarked on a mission to help
teachers improve their ability to lead argumentation focused discussions,
a skill crucial for developing students' critical thinking.
We use simulated classrooms and a blend of human crafted and neural language
models to generate feedback for teachers on their strengths and areas for growth.
At AERA, we will share our findings from one study that explores these
digitally based, scalable solutions to support teacher learning.
