Practice makes perfect in many skills, including reading, but it may be difficult
to sustain in the era of short attention spans.
At AERA, we will discuss how we use data
from a reading app to detect early signs of a reader losing focus.
Our findings indicate that there is a narrow window of opportunity
for the teacher to act before the disengagement snowballs.
By drawing the teacher's attention
to the student who needs it most in real time, we can help the student maximize
learning and support the teacher in effective classroom orchestration.
