Learning to be a good teacher is hard,
and new teachers often don't get much practice before they go into classrooms.
Our team, with support from NSF funding,
developed a suite of online teaching simulations to help middle school math
and science teachers learn to facilitate student discussions.
Participants really valued the learning experience, and we saw measurable shifts
in their beliefs about math and science instruction and in their confidence.
Simulations like these have a ton of potential to help new teachers hit
the ground running, ready to support kids from day one.
