U.S. public trust in higher education is on the rise for the first time in a decade. According to research by Gallup, 42% of Americans are confident in institutions of higher education and attribute their feelings to quality and innovation. Still, there are those who do not value higher education and often point to high-profile individuals – such as Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, or Figma’s Dylan Field who dropped out of college as proof that higher education does not matter. According to Amit Sevak, CEO of ETS, pointing to the success of a few aberrations is a dangerous oversimplification.
