Duanli Yan

Duanli Yan is a director of data analysis and computational research in the Research and Measurement Science area of Research & Development division at ETS. There she has led automated scoring model building and evaluation. She was the statistical coordinator responsible for the EXADEP™ test and the TOEIC® institutional programs. She also has been a psychometrician for several operational programs and a development scientist for innovative research applications on computer adaptive test (CAT) & multistage test (MST) algorithms, cognitive assessment and modeling, development of assessment scoring capabilities, operational assessment equating, and test analysis.

She has given many invited keynote speeches and symposiums on psychometric issues and methodologies and offered numerous number of training sessions and workshops at conferences, seminars, and meetings sponsored by the American Educational Research Association (AERA), National Council of Measurement in Education (NCME), International Association for Computerized Adaptive Testing (IACAT), International Psychometrics Society (IMPS), and International Testing Commission (ITC). Currently, she serves on the board of trustees for IMPS and she is the board secretary for IACAT and a chair on AERA and NCME committees.

Yan was a recipient of the 2011 ETS Presidential Award, 2013 NCME Brenda Loyd Outstanding Dissertation Award from the , 2015 IACAT Early Career Award, and 2016 AERA Division D Significant Contribution to Educational Measurement and Research Methodology Award. She is a coauthor on the following books: Bayesian Networks in Educational Assessment, Computerized Multistage Testing: Theory and Applications, and Computerized Adaptive and Multistage Testing with R. She is a coeditor ont the following volumes: Computerized Multistage Testing: Theory and Applications and Handbook for Automated Scoring: Theory into Practices. 

She holds a Ph.D. in psychometrics, dual masters in statistics and operations research, and a B.S. in computer science and applications.
