China acceptable primary ID documents

Testing within your country of citizenship

The following government-issued ID documents are acceptable for admission to a test session within your country of citizenship:

  • Residents of China MUST present a valid Second Generation National Resident ID with name, photograph and signature.
  • Residents of Taiwan, China must present their Travel Permit to China.
  • Residents of Hong Kong, China and Macau, China must present their Travel Permit to China.
Testing outside your country of citizenship

If you are testing outside your country of citizenship

  • Citizens from all other countries and locations must present a valid passport.
  • If your passport is not written in English-language letters, you must also present as supplemental ID at least one of the documents listed under Supplemental ID Documents. This document must also contain your name, a recent and recognizable photo and be in English.

If your primary ID does not contain a signature, you can present a supplemental ID with photo and signature or a supplemental government-issued ID with a photograph, as long as they are in the same name you used when you registered.
