Taipei, Taiwan (July 17, 2012) —
For the second consecutive year, Zoubir Yazid, Managing Director of ETS Global, presented TOEFL® Scholarships to exceptional Taiwanese students. Recognizing 10 Taiwanese students, the TOEFL Scholarship Program acknowledges the academic excellence of TOEFL test takers in Taiwan.
The TOEFL program honored 10 Taiwanese students with US$4,000 scholarships to help them continue their education at the undergraduate or graduate school level at any location of their choice. Since last year, scholarship funding increased by US$10,000.
"Returning to Taipei for the second consecutive year to award TOEFL Scholarships to deserving students is such an honor," noted Yazid. "Helping outstanding Taiwanese students pursue their educational goals aligns with ETS’s mission to strengthen and support equity and quality in education worldwide."
Drawn from a large pool of applications, each applicant was evaluated based on his or her English communication skills, leadership skills and extracurricular activities. The students will study in The Netherlands, the U.K. and the United States in the fall of 2012. Since 2011, the TOEFL Program has awarded US$70,000 to Taiwanese students to continue to their undergraduate or graduate studies.
The ETS Scholarship & Recognition Program group, which annually administers millions of dollars in new and renewable awards in the United States and abroad, was involved in the coordination of the TOEFL Scholarship Program in Taiwan.
