ETS is conducting a validity study to determine the degree to which the ETS® Personal Potential Index (ETS® PPI) predicts success in graduate school above and beyond traditional predictors, such as GRE® scores and undergraduate grade point average.
We have conducted several small-scale pilot studies with the ETS PPI, which have shown positive results.
This large-scale study will specifically address the issue of whether and by how much the predictive validity given by undergraduate grades and test scores can be increased by including ETS PPI data. More specifically, it will yield findings on person-program fit and which scales in the ETS PPI are most important for which graduate programs. This kind of information could then be used to fine tune admissions formulas for specific programs.
Results of the study will be shared with the graduate community when they become available.
