Alabama Alternative Certification Approaches

Choose a certification approach from the list below to obtain additional information and to determine the required Praxis assessments.
Provisional Certificate in a Teaching Field (PCTF) Approach
For certification in certain teaching fields.
Provisional Certificate in PCLS and BIEA Approaches
For certification in library media or school counseling (PCLS) or educational administration (BIEA).
Interim Employment Certificate (IEC) Approach
A certificate to facilitate employment while completing an Alabama Program in certain teaching fields or areas of instructional support.
Special Education Temporary Certificate Approach (TSEC)
For certification in Collaborative Teacher, grade 6–12.
