If you wish to take all three computer-delivered Core exams (5712, 5722, 5732) at the same time, select Core Academic Skills for Educators: Combined Test (5751) when registering. Scores will be reported by individual test (5712, 5722, 5732).
Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT)
Beginning August 1, 2011, applicants that have completed a State Approved Teacher Education Program (SATEP) will no longer be required to take a Principles of Learning and Teaching test. The Hawaii Teacher Standards board has discontinued this requirement because SATEP integrate pedagogy throughout their preparation programs both in coursework and extensive clinical experience. A recommendation for licensure from a SATEP signifies that the teacher candidate has been trained, observed and assessed using multiple measures to determine pedagogical competence.
Applicants that have not completed a SATEP program must continue to take the PLT level that is required for the teaching field of their teacher education program. However, applicants in K–12 teaching fields(s) are to select only one program level. Middle school applicants are required to complete the 5–9 PLT component.
